I want to make 2008 a year of health: physical health, mental health, relational health, spiritual health, neighborhood health. This means that I must begin to do little things, like making sure to wave hello to neighbors and planning to be available during the hours when the next-door children and their parents are outside enjoying the weather - and bigger things, like changing long-held "unhealthy" attitudes about food, "unhealthy" patterns in relationships, and "unhealthy" expectations of what I (as one person) am capable of accomplishing. My hope is that this year-long focus on health manifests in lots of small ways that have a larger impact on my own health and well-being, which will in turn allow me to work more for others' and our communities' health(s) and well-being(s). : ) One step at a time.
